The final session of the term and some goodbyes.

Luke here!

After more than a decade in scouting, the time has come for me to say goodbye to this Scout Group.

Looking back, I feel incredibly grateful for every adventure, hike, campfire, challenge, muddy adventure, and moment of laughter we’ve shared. The greatest privilege has been watching so many young people grow in confidence, discover what they’re capable of, and become caring, resilient individuals. It has truly been an honour to be part of your journey.

To all of our Scouts past and present: thank you for your energy, your curiosity, and for making every meeting an adventure. Never lose your courage to try something new, to step outside your comfort zone, or to help someone who needs it. Keep planning adventures, keep making memories, and keep living by the Scout values. The world needs people like you—kind, brave, and willing to make a difference.

To all of our parents and carers: thank you for the trust you’ve placed in me over the years. Thank you for your support, the muddy washing after hikes, the encouragement, and for supporting your young people to say “yes” to adventure. None of this would have been possible without you.

Although I’m leaving this group, I’m not leaving Scouting. I’ll be joining another Scout Group that needs support, where I hope to help even more young people discover the same confidence, friendships, and adventures that I’ve been so lucky to witness here. While it’s really difficult to say goodbye, I know Scouting will continue to thrive because of the incredible young people, families, and volunteers who make it so special.

Thank you for allowing me to be part of your lives for the past 13 years. I will always look back on my time here with enormous pride and many happy memories. As a nurse working in CAMHS I wanted to be a leader to inspire fun and adventure into the hearts of the young people, boost moral and self worth, I am very confident to say that I have achieved this. 

This coming Friday will be my last day and I would love us to have an epic night on the water! I am also aware that a few scouts will be moving on to have more adventures in other areas! Please do come and celebrate their time with us.

Keep helping others.

Keep planning adventures.

And above all, never stop exploring what you’re capable of.
