Welcome Back 2025

Welcome back to Scouts

The leaders met on the 7th  Jan and will be starting scouts this coming Friday on the 10th.

In the Hall – 7pm Drop off and 9pm pick up.

We aim to have a focus on badges this year, an opportunity to focus the scouts learning to achieve the GOLDEN award in scouting.

In time each scout will be provided with a scouting adventure booklet to support their journey of development.

We need your help in working with the scouts, evidencing their progression both at home and within scouts to evidence their hard work.

These challenges are tricky and don’t come easy so they will need guidance and support to meet their full potential.

We would love the scouts to own their booklet and to keep it in their adventure bag for safety and to be brought to session every week.

What is an adventure bag I hear you say?

A scout adventure bag is a dedicated bag/backpack full of everything they need to support their scouting adventures each week.

We will work with the scouts on this and develop their bags over the term, supporting them to be independent in their scouting.

The essentials are as follows.

  • Water bottle
  • A snack (this may not always be used, ideal for hikes and outdoor activities)
  • Hat
  • Coat
  • Their manual (will be provided soon)
  • It is also a great place to store their neckers. (these seem to get lost from time to time and are essential to scouting)

Parent Support

We will require support from parents and carers from time to time, if you are interested, please do let a leader know.

We will ask on the blog for support and please do comment if you can help.

This will not only keep scouting going, it will ensure that the leaders can focus on providing a high level of activity for your young people to enjoy.

EXPLORERS

We have gained better links with explorers.

They will be coming to some sessions to introduce themselves for when scouts are ready to move up to the next level of scouting.

Keep an eye on the blog for updates.

THE BLOG

In 2024, the blog had just shy of 10k views!

This is amazing, we aim to have information up in advance so please do keep an eye on the blog.

We are aware that the busiest time on the website is 60 minutes before the session start, please do encourage your scouts to view the blog in advance as we may require them to bring items in prep for the activity.

We may also need to change details of the session to accommodate for leaders absence, weather and the unexpected, so please do check before you leave also.

DIVING

We have an opportunity to go diving!

This Is a yearly event which is enjoyed by all based at the Poole dolphin leisure centre.

We would like to achieve this at the start of march on Friday the 14th, this activity is supported by a local company who has strict guidance and their health and safety regulations can be a barrier to some.

Please see the guidance below to see if this can be achieved for your scout.

We will require numbers and will send out request in due course.

Thank you all for your ongoing support.

See you soon and any questions please do not hesitate to ask.

The 30th Team.
