FLAGS
When arriving at the bandstand, town colours and CCF Band will peel off to the bandstand, group flags will be directed to in front of the bandstand. They will then place their flags in the holders and will re-join their groups by coming back over the bridge. Those with very young flag members i.e. beavers, may wish to send an adult to meet them and guide them to their group.
The rehearsal for Town flag carriers (not group flags) will take place at 9.30am on Sunday 22nd April at the gardens in front of the bandstand.
ROUTE
Starting from the grass park area above Durley Chine, the parade will move down the cliff top path behind the BIC. The parade will come on to pier approach with Hot Rocks on the left and proceed to the bandstand in the gardens where the promise renewal ceremony will take place.
SALUTING BASE
The parade will pass Beacon Road by the BIC. At the first marker before the base, the person leading your Group will shout “eyes left”. All young people should look left and all warranted Leaders should salute. The “eyes front” should be given upon reaching the second marker.
COLLECTION AND SERVICE
Leaders are asked to take a plastic cash bag with them to gather any collection money before the parade, which should be handed to the collectors (30th Bournemouth) on entry to the gardens.
The promise renewal will commence at about 11.00am, when everyone is settled in place. We envisage it lasting between 1⁄2 and 3⁄4 of an hour.
WEATHER
In the event of wet weather the Parade and promise service may be cancelled. At 7.30am on the 22nd April 2018, our District commissioner will make a decision as to whether the event is viable. There will then be a recorded message from the District Office (07563391927) that you will be able to phone in from 7.30am. It is then the GSL or nominated leader’s job to inform their section leaders and them to inform parents.
Should it be hot, please take precautions such as sun cream, water and hats.
MARSHALS
We require 1 marshal from every group to help out at the event. Please email the name and contact number of your groups designated marshal to bournemouthscouts@gmail.com
This is the only occasion each year that we are all on public view. Please ensure a high standard of turnout and discipline.
